Riding instruction is offered for adults and children age 5 and above. Lessons are available from the beginner to advanced levels in English Hunt Seat, Dressage, Combined Training and Sidesaddle disciplines. We offer private, semi-private and group lessons. You can take lessons on our horses or your own.  

Our instructor is Sharon Easley McLain. She holds a degree in equine studies and has been a professional instructor for about 30 years. Sharon has extensive experience teaching at all levels and has taught on the faculty of an equine studies degree program at Humber College in Toronto, Canada.

Although she has competed successfully in all disciplines, her true capability as instructor shows in her students. More important than the winners she has coached in competition, are the qualities Sharon instills in her students: responsibility, discipline and a healthy respect for the horse. In addition to actual riding instruction, students are taught classes that address such subjects as anatomy, health care and feeding, show preparation and training techniques. All of these skills are aimed at producing a well-rounded, knowledgeable horseperson, not just a rider. 

Let Spiritwood teach you or your child the wonders of horsemanship on safe, well-schooled horses. Visitors are always welcome, and introdcutory lessons are available.

Sharon teaches lessons mornings, afternoons and evenings on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. On weekends, she teaches in the mornings.

Private lessons:         1/2 hour      $38

Semi-private lessons: 40 minutes  $30

Group  lessons:         1 hour         $30*
